Fresh Cranberry Sauce Recipe

This fresh cranberry sauce blends tart cranberries with sugars, warm spices like cinnamon, allspice, and nutmeg, plus the brightness of fresh orange zest and juice. It offers a balance of whole and burst berries in a silky, spiced syrup perfect for holiday meals or alongside roasted meats. The sauce can be made ahead and chilled to deepen its flavors.

Description

Fresh Cranberry Sauce Recipe combines fresh cranberries with both white and brown sugar, enhanced with cinnamon sticks, ground allspice, and nutmeg to create a warmly spiced accompaniment. The addition of fresh orange zest and juice introduces citrus brightness that balances the tart berries. The sauce is cooked gently to allow some cranberries to burst, thickening the mixture while leaving some whole berries for texture. It is then cooled before serving.

This sauce is versatile as a condiment for poultry, pork, or as a holiday table staple. Its sweet-tart balance and warming spices make it a seasonal flavor that complements rich dishes. The texture variation between burst and whole cranberries adds interest to the sauce.

According to the notes, it can be prepared up to one week ahead and refrigerated in an airtight container. For longer storage, freezing is an option; use a freezer-safe airtight container and consume within two months. Thaw in the fridge overnight prior to serving to preserve texture and flavor.
