Fried Green Tomatoes with Cajun Remoulade

Ever wondered how to make fried green tomatoes? This is my favorite fried green tomatoes recipe and I think you'll love it, too! The cajun remoulade makes a great dip.

Ingredients

  • 2 large tomato green
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup cornmeal
  • 1 teaspoon seasoned salt divided
  • neutral cooking oil for frying, generic cooking oil
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon vinegar

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 inch of oil in a large skillet over medium heat to 375 degrees.
  2. Wash and slice the tomatoes into 1/4 inch slices. Pat dry.
  3. Add the flour to a small bowl and stir in 1/2 teaspoon of seasoned salt.
  4. Add the buttermilk to a shallow dish.
  5. Add the Panko, cornmeal, and remaining seasoned salt to a third dish and stir to combine.
  6. Dredge the tomato slices in the flour, then the buttermilk, and then the bread crumbs. Shake off excess.
  7. Fry for 2 minutes per side, or until golden brown.
  8. Place on a paper towel lined plate to drain.
  9. To make the dipping sauce, whisk together the remaining ingredients.
