Fries Seasoning
Description
The Fries Seasoning combines table salt with onion and garlic powder, paprika, oregano, parsley, and optional cayenne and black pepper to produce a flavorful but straightforward dry rub. The use of table salt rather than coarser salts helps the seasoning adhere better to fries and other foods. Paprika brightens the blend with mild sweetness and smoky notes, while dried oregano and parsley add herbaceous nuances. The cayenne pepper adds a subtle but noticeable warmth when used.
This mix can be sprinkled liberally over fries after cooking to add flavor without overwhelming the potatoes' natural texture. It also works well on roasted vegetables and proteins either before cooking or as a finishing seasoning. The seasoning is easy to store in an airtight container for repeated use and is flexible enough to adjust the garlic and onion powder quantities to personal preference.
Ingredients
- 1 tsp table salt (Note 1)
- 1 tsp onion powder (or more garlic powder)
- 1 tsp garlic powder (or more onion powder)
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/4 tsp oregano dried
- 1/4 tsp parsley dried
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper , optional
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Mix the ingredients together.
- Sprinkle on fries to taste.
- Store any leftovers in an airtight container or jar in the pantry. Also great on roast potatoes, vegetables and proteins (use for cooking or sprinkle as a finishing salt).
Notes
- Using table salt helps the seasoning stick well to fries due to its finer grains compared to kosher or cooking salts.
- You can adjust the amount of garlic and onion powders depending on your taste preferences.
- Store leftover seasoning in an airtight container in the pantry to keep it fresh and ready for use on various dishes.
