Frito Pie
Description
To assemble Frito Pie, ground beef is cooked with chopped yellow onions until browned and fully cooked. This mixture forms the base layer in a baking dish. Drained Ranch Style beans are spread over the beef, followed by a layer of enchilada sauce to add spice and moisture. Shredded cheddar cheese is sprinkled on top for richness, and a layer of Fritos corn chips crowns the casserole, contributing a salty, crispy texture after baking. The assembled dish is baked at 350°F uncovered for 20 minutes to meld flavors and melt the cheese.
The finished Frito Pie combines meaty, earthy, cheesy, and crunchy elements in each bite, making it a filling comfort food. Optional sliced green onions can be added after baking for freshness and color.
