Frozen Mimosas
Description
This recipe transforms the traditional mimosa into a frozen cocktail by pre-freezing orange juice in ice cube trays. Blending these orange juice cubes with prosecco or another sparkling wine creates a frosted, slushy texture. If the blend is too liquid, additional ice cubes can be added to achieve the desired consistency.
The cocktail maintains the citrus and bubbly character of a mimosa but with a thicker, colder texture suitable for warm days. Garnishing with slices or wedges of Cara Cara oranges adds aroma and color.
This frozen preparation lends itself to make-ahead convenience since the orange juice ice cubes can be prepared the night before. Blending just before serving preserves carbonation and texture for the freshest experience.
Ingredients
- 2 cups orange juice ice cubes
- 4 cups prosecco champagne or sparkling wine
- orange I like cara caras!, slices or wedges, for garnish
Instructions
- The night before, fill two ice cube trays with orange juice and freeze them overnight.
- The next morning, add your orange juice ice cubes and your champagne/wine to a blender and blend until frosting. If the mixture is too liquidy, you can add a few extra (regular) ice cubes!
