Description
This recipe starts by blending funfetti sprinkles together to create a mix for the dough and filling. The dough is made by mixing Funfetti cake mix with additional flour, warm water, and active dry yeast. Once combined and kneaded, the dough is brushed with oil and allowed to rise until doubled in size. Rolled out thin, it is coated with melted butter and a cinnamon-sugar-spinkle mixture, then rolled into a log and sliced into individual rolls for a second rise.
Baking at 350°F for about 30 minutes yields soft, fluffy cinnamon rolls with festive sprinkles throughout, adding color and slight crunch. A vanilla powdered sugar icing made from powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and whole milk completes the rolls with a creamy topping. Ingredients
Funfetti Sprinkle Mix
- 1 nonpareils bought from Michaels craft stores, light green, hot pink, yellow, light blue and purple, pouch
- 1 cake confetti sprinkles
- 1 sprinkle jimmies
Cinnamon roll Ingredients
- 1 box Funfetti Cake Mix
- 2 1/2 C flour
- 2 C water warm
- 2 1/2 tsp active dry yeast
- 1 tbsp canola oil
- 1/2 C butter melted, unsalted, sweet cream
- 1/2 C light brown sugar
- 1 tbsp cinnamon
Cinnamon Roll Icing
- 4 C powdered sugar
- 1½ tsp vanilla extract pure
- 10 tbsp milk whole
Instructions
Directions to make Funfetti Cinnamon Rolls
- Combine all sprinkles into a closed container and shake until combined.
Cinnamon roll directions:
- Using a large mixing bowl, mix together the cake mix, flour, warm water, and yeast.
- Mix until slightly combined
- Once combined, place dough onto a floured surface and knead until combined and the dough bounces back after touching it
- Place dough into a large glass bowl and brush the 1 tbsp oil onto the top of the dough and sides of the glass bowl
- Cover with a kitchen towel and let sit for an hour
- Once the dough has doubled in size, place dough onto floured surface and roll out to 1/8 inch
- Brush melted butter onto the dough and sprinkle with the cinnamon and sugar and 1/2 C of the funfetti sprinkles.
- Roll into a log and cut into rolls
- Place rolls into a baking dish and cover again for another hour
- Once the hour is up, preheat the oven to 350 degrees
- Once oven is preheated, bake the cinnamon rolls for 30 minutes
Cinnamon roll icing directions :
- Using a standing mixer, combine the powdered sugar, vanilla and whole milk together until smooth and creamy
- Once the cinnamon rolls have been baked, remove from oven and drizzle the icing onto the cinnamon rolls
- Allow cinnamon rolls to cool for about 15 minutes before enjoying!
