Funfetti Cookies
Description
The recipe combines softened salted butter and granulated sugar creamed together to form a fluffy base. After incorporating a room-temperature egg and vanilla extract, dry ingredients with leavening agents including baking powder, baking soda, and cream of tartar are folded in. Sprinkles and white chocolate chips add bursts of color and extra sweetness throughout the dough.
Chilling the shaped dough balls on prepared baking sheets for at least an hour keeps cookies from spreading thinly during baking at 350°F. The cookies bake for about 12 to 13 minutes, resulting in soft, tender centers with lightly browned edges. Cooling on the sheets briefly before transferring to racks prevents breakage.
These cookies can be stored in an airtight container up to a week, remaining fresh and flavorful for sharing or snacking.
Ingredients
- ½ cup butter softened to room temperature
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg at room temperature
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- ½ cup Sprinkles
- ⅓ cup white chocolate chips
Instructions
- Cream the softened butter for about 1 minute on medium speed in a large bowl, with a paddle attachment or hand mixer, until nice and smooth.
- Add sugar and continue to cream until fluffy.
- Add egg, continuing to mix. Then add vanilla.
- Scrape down sides of the mixing bowl, and set aside.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and cream of tartar.
- Return to the bowl with butter and sugar mixture, and turn the mixer on to a low speed, then slowly add the flour mixture.
- Once combined, turn off mixer, and fold in sprinkles and chocolate chips by hand.
- Scoop the dough into 2 tablespoon-sized balls, and place 6 to a parchment lined baking sheet. You should get about 15-16 cookies.
- Chill the baking sheets with the dough for at least an hour to prevent too much spreading in the oven.
- When ready to bake preheat oven to 350°F. Bake for 12-13 minutes.
- Cool on the cookie sheets for 2-4 minutes before moving to a wire rack to cool completely. The cookies will appear very soft once cooled Enjoy!
Notes
- Use room-temperature egg and softened salted butter for proper mixing and flavor.
- Chilling the dough before baking helps maintain cookie shape and texture.
- Store baked cookies in an airtight container for up to one week.
