Ingredients

Servings
  • ½ cup onion chopped or minced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 pound cremini mushroom or button mushroom
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons parsley optional, chopped, fresh
  • ½ teaspoon chili flakes optional
  • salt to taste
  • black pepper to taste
  • lemon juice juice of 1/4 lemon

Instructions

  1. In a large pan over medium-high heat, add the onion, butter, and olive oil. Cook onion down for 3-4 minutes or until softened.
  2. Add the mushrooms and cook for 3-4 minutes then add the garlic and cook for 30 seconds to 1 minute or until fragrant. Stir in parsley, chili flakes, and salt & pepper, to taste.
  3. Cook for about 2 minutes or until the liquid reduces down a bit. Finish with a drizzle of lemon juice and garnish with more parsley if desired; serve immediately.

Notes

  • Storing leftovers: Place mushrooms in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 5 days.
  • Reheating. Warm leftover mushrooms in a skillet on the stovetop over medium-low heat or in the microwave.
  • Freezing. Place in an airtight freezer-safe storage container and freeze for up to 3 months. Let thaw overnight in the refrigerator or for about an hour at room temperature before reheating.
