Garlic Mashed Potatoes Recipe
Description
Garlic Mashed Potatoes Recipe uses red potatoes quartered and boiled until they become fork tender. Keeping the skins on adds some texture and color to the mash. After draining, the potatoes are combined with butter, minced garlic, salt, and part of the milk in the pot. An electric mixer blends the ingredients until the mixture is light and fluffy. Additional milk is added slowly to reach the desired consistency.
The gentle flavor of garlic complements the creamy butter and milk, while the red potatoes provide a smooth but slightly rustic mash. The process avoids overworking the potatoes, which helps keep a light texture without becoming gluey.
This dish is best served immediately while warm and pairs well with a wide range of main courses, from roasted meats to grilled vegetables.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs potato red
- 2 tsp garlic minced
- 1/4 cup butter
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1/2 tsp salt
Instructions
- Clean the potatoes and quarter them (leave the skin on).
- Place the potatoes in a large pot and cover them with water. Bring to a boil and simmer for about 10-15 minutes until the potatoes are fork tender.
- Drain the potatoes and then return them back to the pot.
- Then add in the garlic, butter, salt and 1/2 a cup of the milk. Use an electric mixer to blend the potatoes until they are light and fluffy. Gradually add in the remaining milk until the mashed potatoes are the consistency that you prefer.
- Serve immediately while warm and enjoy!
