Garlic Olive Oil Dip
Description
The recipe starts by mixing finely minced garlic, red pepper flakes, and dried oregano in a shallow bowl or plate. Freshly grated Parmesan cheese is added and then extra virgin olive oil is poured over everything. The mixture is stirred well and seasoned with freshly ground salt and pepper according to taste. Adding fresh parsley or basil on top adds a fresh herb note and color contrast. The dip is intended to be served immediately with bread for dipping.
This dip features an herby, garlicky olive oil base with a bit of heat from the red pepper flakes and savory depth from Parmesan cheese. The olive oil creates a smooth, rich texture, perfect for soaking into pieces of focaccia or other bread. It’s an easy appetizer or side condiment that highlights simple ingredients in a balanced combination.
The dip can be stored refrigerated in a sealed container for up to a week but should be brought back to room temperature before serving for best flavor and texture. It is flexible for ingredient variations including herb changes or adding more garlic or heat according to personal preference.
