Garlic Parmesan Green Beans with Bacon
Description
The recipe starts by trimming and slicing green beans, which are boiled until tender but still crisp, then shocked in ice water to preserve color and texture. Crisp bacon pieces are cooked separately, and their rendered fat is minimized. Butter and minced garlic are sautéed briefly to release flavor, and then combined with the green beans and bacon. Grated Parmesan cheese is stirred in to add nuttiness and a slightly salty richness.
The butter and garlic infusion, combined with the smoky bite of bacon, gives the green beans a savory, layered taste. The texture balances crisp green beans with tender sautéed toppings and crisp bacon bits, creating a satisfying mix.
This dish serves well as a hearty side to many main dishes, bringing a familiar comfort with elevated flavor from the Parmesan and garlic butter. Salt and pepper seasoning can be adjusted to taste to ensure balanced seasoning.
The green beans can be blanched just ahead of time and combined with the cooked bacon and garlic mixture when ready to serve, facilitating easier meal prep.
