Garlic Parmesan Roasted Asparagus
Description
This recipe calls for fresh asparagus trimmed of woody ends, spread on a foil-lined sheet pan, and lightly sprayed with olive oil. Tossing with salt, freshly ground black pepper, minced garlic, and Parmesan cheese allows the flavors to distribute evenly. An additional olive oil spray before roasting helps achieve a golden, slightly crisp exterior during an 8-9 minute bake at 425°F.
The high oven temperature cooks the asparagus quickly to retain a pleasant snap and bright green color. The garlic adds pungent aroma and taste, while Parmesan provides a subtle nutty, salty accent to the spears. Together, these ingredients create a side dish that is flavorful but not heavy.
This roasted asparagus pairs well with a variety of main dishes, offering a green vegetable component with minimal prep or cleanup. Serving immediately after roasting is recommended to maintain the desired texture and warmth.
To extend asparagus freshness before preparation, store it upright in cold water or wrapped in a damp paper towel in the refrigerator. Leftovers keep in an airtight container in the fridge up to three days. A squeeze of lemon juice prior to roasting adds brightness without overpowering the flavors.
Ingredients
- 1/2 pound asparagus fresh
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper freshly ground
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 2-3 Tablespoons Parmesan Cheese
- olive oil spray form
