Gingerbread Baked Donuts

Gingerbread Baked Donuts bring warm spices and molasses into a tender donut baked in pans for a lightly dense, moist treat. After baking, donuts are rolled in a cinnamon-ginger sugar blend for added sweetness and spice on the crisped surface.

Description

This recipe combines all-purpose flour with ground ginger, cinnamon, baking powder, baking soda, and salt to form a spiced dry mix. Coconut oil and brown sugar are mixed then molasses and an egg are added for moisture and flavor. Milk and Greek yogurt are whisked in to contribute to a tender crumb. The flour mixture is incorporated just until combined.

The batter is scooped into two 6-count donut pans and baked at 350°F until the donuts spring back to the touch, indicating doneness. After cooling slightly, the tops and bottoms are dipped in a mixture of granulated sugar, cinnamon, and ginger, adding a spiced sugar coating.

The result is a delicately spiced donut with gingerbread flavor notes, moist texture from the yogurt and molasses, and a sweet, slightly crunchy sugar coating. Makes 12 donuts, suitable for breakfast or snack.
