Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 knob ginger about 1 inch, sliced
  • 1 cassia cinnamon stick form
  • 3-4 cloves
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp black tea or 2 tea bags
  • 1-2 tablespoons molasses
  • Whipped Cream optional

Instructions

  1. In a pot, add 1 cup water with sliced ginger. Cook for 3-5 minutes on low heat to infuse the ginger into the water.
  2. Next, add in 2 cups of milk and let it cook, just until it starts to boil.
  3. Add in the cinnamon, cloves, brown sugar and black tea (or tea bags).
  4. Cook on low to medium heat for 3-4 minutes, or longer, depending on how strong you prefer your tea.
  5. Turn up the heat and bring it to a boil. Turn off the stove as soon as it comes to a boil.
  6. To each cup add about 1 tablespoon of molasses, then strain the tea into the cups.
  7. Top with whipped cream if you like.
  8. Serve warm with extra sugar on the side and your favorite cookies to dip.
