Gingery Lemon Tahini Sauce

The Gingery Lemon Tahini Sauce is a smooth, pourable sauce made by blending tahini with fresh lemon juice, maple syrup, sea salt, and freshly grated ginger. Its creamy texture and balance of tangy, sweet, and spicy ginger flavors make it an excellent accompaniment for salads and bowl meals, offering a flavorful, plant-based dressing option.

Description

This sauce combines creamy tahini with bright fresh lemon juice and a touch of sweetness from maple syrup. Freshly grated ginger adds a sharp, warming spice note, balanced by sea salt. The ingredients are whisked together, then thinned with water to achieve a pourable consistency. The resulting sauce has a smooth, creamy texture with a lively zing from lemon and ginger. Flavors can be adjusted to taste, allowing more acidity, sweetness, or ginger intensity as preferred.

The Gingery Lemon Tahini Sauce is versatile for drizzling over salads, grain bowls, or roasted vegetables. Its tangy and slightly sweet character complements fresh or cooked dishes, adding moisture and flavor without heaviness.

Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to one week, making it practical for meal prep. The sauce is not recommended for freezing as the texture may change.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1/3 cup tahini
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice fresh
  • 1 Tbsp maple syrup or honey if not vegan, or agave nectar
  • 1/2 tsp salt sea salt
  • 4 tsp ginger you can try subbing dried, but we haven’t tested it, freshly grated
  • water (to thin into pourable sauce)

Instructions

  2. Taste and adjust flavor as needed, adding more lemon for acidity, maple syrup for sweetness, ginger for stronger ginger flavor, or salt to taste.
  3. Perfect for salads and bowl meals! Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator up to 1 week. Not freezer friendly.

Notes

  • The recipe yields about three-quarters of a cup of sauce, suited for multiple servings.
  • Adjust the balance of lemon juice, maple syrup, and ginger according to your flavor preference.
  • Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 1 week; avoid freezing to preserve texture.
