Glazed Chorizo Bites Recipe
Description
The recipe begins by browning thick slices of Spanish chorizo in olive oil over medium-high heat, yielding a crispy exterior and releasing the sausage's spices. Garlic is added for aromatic depth just before incorporating red wine, honey, and spices like smoked paprika and black pepper. The mixture is boiled until the liquid reduces into a thick glaze that clings to the chorizo slices.
This final step creates a balance between the smoky, spicy, and sweet elements. The glazed chorizo has a caramelized coating that enhances its natural richness. Served hot with toothpicks, these bites make an easy, flavorful snack or party appetizer.
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 lb chorizo sausages sliced 1 inch thick, Spanish-style
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- ⅔ cup red wine
- ⅓ cup honey
- 1 pinch smoked paprika
- 1 pinch black pepper
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Add the chorizo and saute, stirring a few times, until the chorizo browns on both sides, about 5 minutes.
- Add the garlic, red wine, honey, and a pinch of smoked paprika and black pepper to the pan. Bring the pan to a boil and continue to boil until the liquid reduces to a glaze thick enough to coat the back of a spoon, about 3-5 minutes. Don't reduce it too much as it will thicken as it cools.
- Serve with toothpicks for easy nibbling.
