Good Morning Crumb Cake

Good Morning Crumb Cake brings together a moist cake base enriched with Greek yogurt and warm spices like cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and nutmeg. The cake is topped with a generous crumb mixture made from flour, sugars, butter, and the same spices, creating a crisp and flavorful topping that contrasts the soft crumb beneath. This recipe is ideal when fresh-baked and served warm, offering a comforting start to the day or a cozy snack.

Description

Good Morning Crumb Cake combines a spiced batter with a rich, crumbly topping that is baked in a 10x15 inch pan. The base batter includes flour, sugars, spices, softened butter, eggs, baking soda, and Greek yogurt, which adds moisture and tender texture. The crumb topping is prepared separately by cutting butter into a mixture of flour, sugars, salt, and spices until crumbly, then scattered evenly over the batter before baking.

The result is a tender, moist cake with a crisp, fragrant topping spiced with cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and nutmeg. Baking until a knife inserted comes out clean ensures proper doneness. The cake is best enjoyed warm, optionally spread with a bit of butter for added richness.

This crumb cake slices well and is suited for breakfast, coffee breaks, or dessert. Serving it warm highlights the contrast between the soft cake and crisp topping. Cooling slightly or serving at room temperature also works well.

Serving warm is recommended but it also keeps its texture when cooled. The cake can be cut into squares and stored, making it a practical option for feeding guests or an easy treat on hand.
