Using Frozen Pearl Onions

  1. Remove from freezer and defrost before using.
  2. In a small bowl combine butter and honey together until blended.
  3. Add to onions.  Stir until coated over low heat.  Sprinkle with salt and pepper.  Stir and remove onions.
  4. In a small cup combine cornstarch and water.
  5. Stir until cornstarch is dissolved completely.  Add to liquid in saucepan to thicken.  Increase heat slightly for a moment or two and stir.
  6. Return onions to saucepan, stir until coated in mixture and remove from heat.  Serve immediately.  Enjoy every bite.

Notes

  • Tips:
  • To peel fresh pearl onions, trim the root ends of the onions. Blanch the onions in boiling water for about 30 seconds and transfer them to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process. Pinch each onion at its stem and it should pop right out of the skin.
  • Be careful not to overcook the onions or they will become mushy in texture.
