Granola Bar Recipe

This Granola Bar recipe blends rolled oats, Rice Krispies cereal, crushed graham crackers, and sweet marshmallows with a butter, brown sugar, and honey syrup binder. The mixture is pressed into a pan and refrigerated to set, creating a chewy yet crunchy bar with chocolate chips adding bursts of sweetness. It’s a versatile, homemade snack bar combining familiar cereal textures and flavors with a caramelized coating for holding it together.

Description

The granola bars combine old-fashioned rolled oats, crispy Rice Krispies, and graham cracker pieces, bound by a syrup made from melted butter, brown sugar, and honey cooked until bubbling briefly. This mixture gives a slight caramel flavor and sticky texture. After combining and cooling, marshmallows and mini chocolate chips are stirred in gently to add gooeyness and chocolate bursts within the crunchy cereal base. The bars are pressed firmly into a pan and chilled until firm, yielding bars that hold their shape but remain chewy.

The bars balance sweet and crunchy elements by mixing toasted cereal pieces with the softer mini marshmallows and melted chocolate chips. The graham crackers introduce a subtle buttery, slightly sweet note, enhancing the overall flavor complexity. The refrigeration solidifies the syrup coating so bars slice cleanly without crumbling.

This recipe is great for a homemade treat that can be sliced and packed for snacks or lunchboxes. It avoids baking, relying on chilling for structure, making it accessible and quick to prepare.
