Granola Recipe

This homemade granola blends rolled oats with whole almonds and dried cranberries, bound together by a mixture of honey, oil, brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt, enhanced by a whipped egg white. Baked at a low temperature until dry and slightly darkened, the granola develops a crunchy texture with clusters that can be broken apart for use as a breakfast cereal or snack.

Description

The Granola Recipe starts by mixing rolled oats, almonds, and dried cranberries, optionally including ground flax seed for added nutrition. A wet mixture of honey, neutral cooking oil, brown sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt is whisked together and combined with a frothy egg white to help bind the ingredients. Coating the dry mix evenly, the granola is spread thin on a baking sheet and baked at a low temperature (275°F) for 45-55 minutes until it appears dry and somewhat darkened.

The gentle baking creates toasted clusters with a balanced sweetness from honey and brown sugar, accented by cinnamon and vanilla. The crunchiness and slight chew from the cranberries offer a pleasant texture for eating on its own, with milk, or as a topping.

Once cooled, the granola breaks apart easily for storage. It keeps well in an airtight container in a cool, dry place for at least a month and can be frozen for up to six months, maintaining freshness for extended use.
