Grape Jelly Meatballs

Grape Jelly Meatballs combine ground beef with typical seasonings shaped into bite-size balls and cooked until done, then slow-cooked in a sauce made from grape jelly and chili sauce. The slow cooking tenderizes the meatballs and melds the sweet and tangy sauce flavors for a balanced dish. This recipe is practical for preparing ahead, as you can freeze the meatballs before or after cooking with the sauce, making it convenient for meals or entertaining.

Description

Grape Jelly Meatballs start by mixing ground beef with egg, bread crumbs, garlic salt, milk, and seasonings, then shaping into small meatballs and cooking them in a hot skillet until fully done. The meatballs are then combined with a sauce made from grape jelly and chili sauce, which is gently heated in a crock pot for several hours. This slow simmering softens the meatballs and allows the sweet and tangy sauce to coat them thoroughly.

The resulting dish has tender meatballs with a smooth, sticky glaze from the grape jelly and chili sauce blend. The use of grape jelly adds a sweet contrast to the savory meat, while chili sauce adds subtle heat and depth.

This recipe suits casual gatherings or family dinners and can be served alone or with bread or rice. The make-ahead options for refrigeration or freezing make it convenient to prepare in advance or store leftovers.

Freezing either plain cooked meatballs or meatballs combined with the sauce is an option, and storing in airtight containers keeps them fresh up to a month. Reheat gently before serving to maintain tenderness and flavor.
