Greek Seasoning

Greek Seasoning blends dried herbs like oregano, basil, rosemary, dill, and thyme with garlic and onion powders, black pepper, kosher salt, and optional dried lemon zest. This custom spice mix is designed to season meats and vegetables, imparting Mediterranean herbal and citrus notes typical of Greek flavors.

Description

This Greek Seasoning recipe combines a variety of dried Mediterranean herbs—oregano, basil, rosemary, dill, and thyme—with garlic and onion powders, black pepper, and kosher salt to create a versatile all-purpose blend. Optional lemon zest adds a citrus dimension when dried properly. The mixture can be applied directly to meats or vegetables to infuse flavor characteristic of Greek cuisine.

The preparation involves mixing all dried spices thoroughly, optionally including freshly dried lemon zest for brightness. Storing the mixture at room temperature allows the flavors to meld and ensures longevity for up to three months. The dried lemon zest must be fully dried before storage to prevent spoilage.

This seasoning provides a convenient way to impart familiar Greek flavors to dishes without needing multiple individual spices, suitable for seasoning grilling, roasting, or sautéing.
