Green Goddess Dressing
Description
This Green Goddess Dressing combines a mix of fresh parsley, chives, tarragon, and garlic, finely chopped and blended with mayonnaise and sour cream or plain Greek yogurt. Lemon zest and juice add brightness, while Worcestershire sauce introduces a subtle umami depth reminiscent of anchovies without directly using them.
The result is a smooth, creamy dressing that is fresh and herb-forward with balanced tanginess and mild spice. It is well-suited to salads, raw or grilled vegetables, or as a dip.
The recipe yields about two cups, enough for multiple servings. If using dried herbs instead of fresh, letting the dressing sit longer helps hydrate and soften herb textures. Leftovers store well in the refrigerator for up to four days.
Ingredients
- 1 cup parsley see note 1, leaves
- 3 tablespoons chive coarsely chopped, fresh
- 2 tablespoons tarragon fresh leaves
- 1 clove garlic peeled and coarsely chopped
- 1 teaspoon lemon from 1 lemon, zest
- 3/4 cup mayonnaise
- 3/4 cup sour cream or plain Greek yogurt (see note 2)
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice (from 1 lemon)
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce (see note 3)
- salt freshly ground
- black pepper freshly ground
Instructions
- In a food processor or blender, add parsley, chives, tarragon, garlic, and lemon zest and pulse until finely chopped.
- Add mayonnaise, sour cream, lemon juice, and Worcestershire sauce. Blend until smooth. Season to taste with salt and pepper (I like 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper) and chill.
Notes
- Substitute dried herbs by increasing quantity and allowing the dressing to rest for flavor infusion.
- Use full-fat sour cream or Greek yogurt for a richer texture and tang.
- Worcestershire sauce adds umami but anchovies can be used as an alternative.
- Store in refrigerator for up to 4 days in a covered container.
