Green Tea Rice
Description
This recipe for Green Tea Rice involves steeping green tea leaves in hot water with salt to create a flavorful infusion. After brewing and straining the tea, it is poured over steamed jasmine or sushi rice mixed with sliced scallions and toasted white and black sesame seeds. The tea imparts a gentle vegetal flavor to the rice, enhancing its subtle sweetness without overpowering it.
The toasted sesame seeds add texture and a nutty dimension, while the fresh scallions contribute a mild oniony note. The method is simple, relying on infusion rather than heavy seasoning, making for a light and aromatic dish that emphasizes the rice's texture and the tea’s essence.
Green Tea Rice can be served alongside grilled or steamed dishes, or enjoyed as a standalone snack. Its refreshingly mild flavors complement a variety of meal settings, particularly Japanese-inspired or light meals.
