Ingredients

Servings
  • 3 apples
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 Tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 Tablespoons butter
  • 2 Tablespoons honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat a grill over medium high heat (approximately 350 degrees Fahrenheit).
  2. Core the apples and slice them into approximately 1/4-1/2 inch thick slices (rings).
  3. Stir together the water and lemon juice in a large bowl.  Add the apple rings and let them soak to prevent browning.
  4. Remove the apples from the water and pat them dry with paper towels.
  5. Rub the oil on the grill grates to prevent the apples from sticking to the grill.
  6. Place the apple slices directly on the grill and cook for 4-6 minutes until they start to brown.  Turn the apples and cook them for 4-5 minutes on the other side as well.
  7. While the apples are cooking, place the butter, honey, ground cinnamon and brown sugar in a microwave safe bowl.
  8. Microwave for 30 seconds, stir and continue to microwave in 30 second intervals until the butter is melted and all ingredients are combined.
  9. Rub this mixture onto the apple slices while still on the grill.  Flip them and cook for 1-2 minutes.  Rub the opposite side of the apples with the mixture and cook for 1-2 more minutes.
  10. Remove from heat.  Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • Don’t skip soaking the apples in the water and lemon juice mixture as this prevents the apples from browning.
  • These apples are delicious served as is or topped with ice cream.
