Ingredients

Servings
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 4 prawn large
  • 1 cup cheese shredded
  • 1 tablespoon parsley chopped, fresh

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise and egg yolk, stirring well. Set aside.
  2. Rinse four large prawns and pat them dry with paper towels. Using a sharp knife, make a shallow cut down the middle of the back of each prawn to create a pocket, being careful not to cut all the way through. Clean and devein the prawns. Transfer them to a baking pan lined with parchment paper.
  3. Generously coat each prawn with the mayonnaise mixture and stuff them with shredded cheese, gently pressing the cheese into the pockets to fill the space evenly.
  4. Bake the prawns in the preheated oven (or on an outdoor grill) for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the prawns turn pink and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  5. Serve immediately, garnished with freshly chopped parsley on top.

Notes

  • Pick fresh large prawns for the best taste. Fresh prawns will have a sweet and succulent flavor, enhancing the overall taste of your grilled cheese prawns.
  • Don't Overcook the Prawns. Prawns cook quickly, and overcooking can result in a rubbery texture. Keep a close eye on them while baking, and remove them from the oven as soon as they turn pink and opaque. This will ensure they remain juicy and tender.
  • Select a cheese that melts well and complements the prawns. Cheddar, mozzarella, Gouda, or a blend of cheeses are excellent choices. Avoid using cheeses that are too pungent or overpowering, as they may mask the delicate flavors of the prawns.
