Grilled Green Beans
Description
Fresh green beans are washed, trimmed, and placed in a foil packet with olive oil and seasonings. Sealing the packet traps steam and heat, gently cooking the beans while allowing them to char slightly from direct grill exposure. The grill temperature is set to 400°F for optimal cooking.
Cooking for 5-8 minutes per side develops tenderness without losing the beans’ bright green color and slight snap. Removing the beans from the packet immediately after cooking prevents overcooking and maintains texture.
If grilling is not available, the same foil pack can be baked in an oven at 400°F for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, to achieve comparable results.
Leftover green beans store well in an airtight container refrigerated up to five days, ready for reheating or cold use.
Ingredients
- 1 lb Green bean washed and trimmed, fresh
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
Instructions
- Preheat the grill to 400 degrees F.
- Clean and cut the ends of the fresh green beans
- Place them on the center of a piece of foil.
- Drizzle the olive oil over the green beans and season them with the salt, pepper and garlic powder.
- Fold the foil into a foil pack around the green beans.
- Place the foil packet on direct heat. Close the lid on the grill. Cook for 5-8 minutes on each side on direct flames. Carefully open the foil packet and make sure that a bean is done.
- Remove from the grill and serve.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to five days.
- As an alternative to grilling, bake the foil packet in a 400°F oven on a baking sheet for 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway through.
