Description
The sandwich starts with artisan bread, buttered on the outside to achieve a golden brown, crunchy surface during cooking. Shaved Black Forest ham is layered between two slices of cheddar cheese, enhancing the melt with savory meat flavor and creamy cheese texture. Cooking in a preheated fry pan or griddle over medium-high heat allows the bread to toast evenly and cheese to melt without burning.
Once cooked on both sides to a golden crust, the sandwich is rested briefly to keep the cheese from being too hot and to allow flavors to meld. Ingredients
- 2 lices artisan bread
- 3 oz Black Forest ham shaved
- 2 lices cheddar cheese
- 1 Tbsp butter
Instructions
- Preheat a fry pan or griddle over medium high heat. Butter one side of each of the pieces of bread with the butter.
- Place one piece of bread on the fry pan or griddle butter side down. Top the bread with a slice of cheese and layer the ham on top. Then place the remaining slice of cheese on top of the ham and top with the 2nd piece of bread (butter side out).
- Heat the sandwich for 3-5 minutes until the bottom piece of bread is golden brown. Flip and cook the opposite side sandwich for 3-5 minutes.
- Remove the sandwich to a plate. Let the sandwich rest for for a few minutes so that the cheese is not too hot. Cut in half and enjoy!
