Grilled Honey Butter Chicken
Description
The recipe starts by seasoning chicken thighs or boneless skinless breasts with salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, and garlic powder, which help form a flavorful crust over the high direct heat of the grill. The chicken is cooked on hot grates for about 5 to 6 minutes per side, forming grill marks while retaining juices inside.
During grilling, a mixture of melted butter, honey, and minced garlic is prepared and applied several times as a brush-on glaze. This technique layers sweetness and richness evenly, enhancing the natural flavor of the grilled chicken without overpowering it.
Once cooked, the chicken is finished with additional brushing of the honey butter for a glossy, sticky coating. Served with fresh chives on top, the dish complements well with simple summer vegetables, salads, or grains to complete a meal.
Ingredients
- 1 ½ pounds chicken thigh or boneless skinless chicken breasts
- salt kosher salt
- black pepper kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 3 tablespoons butter
- ⅓ cup honey
- 1 garlic minced, clove
- chives for topping, chopped
Instructions
- Heat the grill to the highest setting.
- Season the chicken all over with the salt, pepper, smoked paprika and garlic powder. Once the grill is hot, place the chicken on the grates. Grill for 5 to 6 minutes before turning it and grilling for 5 to 6 minutes more.
- While the chicken is on the grill, combine the butter, honey and garlic in a saucepan over medium heat. Heat until the butter melts and the mixture is bubbling. Once the butter melts, from the pan from the heat. Take it out to the grill and brush the chicken with the mixture. Turn it and brush again. Repeat this once or twice more.
- Remove the chicken from the grill and brush with more of the honey butter. Serve with your favorite summer sides!
