Grilled Nectarines

Grilled Nectarines with maple syrup and brown sugar are a perfect way to enjoy sweet stone fruit with a charred maple twist. Ready in 15 mins.

  • 1 teaspoon oil
  • 4 nectarines
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar

To serve (optional):

  • vanilla ice cream
  • maple syrup
  • Chopped hazelnuts

Instructions

  1. Heat a barbecue or grill pan and lightly oil it.
  2. Cut the nectarines in half and remove the stones.
  3. Mix the maple syrup and vanilla, then brush all over the nectarines. Sprinkle the cut sides with the brown sugar.
  4. Place the nectarines, cut side down, on the grill and cook until charred, then flip and cook the other side.
  5. Serve over ice cream, drizzled with a little maple syrup and sprinkled with hazelnuts.

  • When grilling fruit directly on the grill, make sure the heat isn’t too high as the sugars in the fruit can easily caramelize and burn quickly.

  • When choosing a nectarine, buy ones that give in to pressure but just slightly. An underripe nectarine will not become sweet and an overripe one will have a mushy texture.
