Grilled Pork Loin Burgers

These Grilled Pork Loin Burgers use marinated pork loin sliced and grilled for a juicy, flavorful filling. Marinating with lemon juice, brown sugar, soy sauce, and garlic tenderizes the meat and adds a balance of sweet and savory flavors. Grilled apple slices brushed with honey and cinnamon add a sweet contrast, while pretzel buns and melted cheddar or smoked gouda complement the smoky pork. This recipe offers a unique take on burgers combining savory pork and sweet fruit flavors.

Description

The pork loin is marinated for at least 3 hours in a mixture of lemon juice, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, soy sauce, vegetable oil, garlic, salt, and pepper, infusing it with bright, sweet, and savory elements. After resting to come to room temperature, the pork is grilled over high heat with the lid closed, developing a seared exterior and juicy interior. Following grilling, the pork is sliced to serve in pretzel buns topped with choice cheeses like cheddar or smoked gouda. The buns can be toasted and cheese melted under a broiler to improve texture and flavor.

Accompanying the burgers are apple slices cored and cut into rings, brushed with melted butter, grilled gently, then glazed with warmed honey mixed with cinnamon. This adds a warm sweet-spiced element that contrasts the savory pork. Spreads like chipotle and honey mustard sauces provide additional layers of flavor according to taste.

This recipe works well for casual gatherings and offers an approachable way to grill and prepare pork loin in burger form. Choosing tart apples like Honeycrisp offers textural and flavor balance. Timing and temperature control in grilling ensures the pork is tender and cooked thoroughly without drying.

Marinating overnight enhances flavor penetration. Removing meat from the fridge before grilling ensures even cooking. Toasting the buns and melting the cheese softens the bread and enhances the overall mouthfeel.

  • 6 lices cheddar cheese or smoked gouda
  • 1 1/2 pounds pork loin sliced
  • chipotle sauce to taste
  • honey mustard sauce to taste

Pork Loin Marinade:

  • 1/3 cup lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic minced
  • kosher salt to taste
  • kosher black pepper to taste

For the Apples:

  • 3 apple we use honey crisp apples
  • 1/4 cup butter melted
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • cinnamon to taste

Instructions

  1. Mix up the ingredients for the pork loin marinade at least 3 hours before cooking, the longer the better! Place the pork loin in a large plastic bag and pour the marinade over the top. Seal the bag and make sure the pork has the marinade evenly distributed all over it. Refrigerate.
  2. Let the pork sit at room temperature for 20 minutes before grilling.
  3. Turn your grill onto high heat. Remove the pork loin from the bag and place on the grill, discard the excess marinade.
  4. Cook for 7 minutes on the first side with the grill lid down, then flip and grill 6 more minutes with the lid down. Do not open the grill, but turn the grill off and let the pork sit for 5 more minutes before removing. Slice the pork loin to desired thickness.
  5. Core out the center of the apples, then cut into "doughnut like" slices. Brush with butter then grill on low for 5 minutes on each side. Remove from grill. Warm the honey and stir in a little cinnamon, then brush all over the apples.
  6. Open the pretzel buns (or cut the rolls) and place on a cookie sheet with the centers facing up. Place a slice of cheese on the bottom slice. Cook under the broiler in the oven just until the cheese starts to melt.
  7. Remove from oven and top the bottom slice with the pork and apples. Spread your favorite sauce on the top half of the bun and sandwich them together.

Notes

  • Marinate the pork loin overnight in the refrigerator for deeper flavor absorption.
  • Allow the pork to sit at room temperature for about 20 minutes before grilling to promote even cooking.
  • Choose tart, crisp apples like Honeycrisp or Pink Lady for grilling to complement the savory pork.
  • Broil the buns with cheese melted on top before assembling to soften the bread and enrich flavor.
