Grilled Sesame Shishito Peppers

Grilled Sesame Shishito Peppers are blistered over direct heat until tender and lightly charred, then finished with a sprinkle of salt and toasted sesame seeds. Served with a creamy dipping sauce made from mayonnaise, sesame oil, sambal, and lime juice, this appetizer offers mild heat with rich, tangy, and nutty flavors.

Description

The shishito peppers are tossed in sesame oil and grilled over direct heat to blister the skin and soften the pepper, creating a slightly smoky flavor with a tender bite. A dipping sauce combining mayonnaise, sesame oil, hot sauce, and lime juice provides a creamy, spicy, and citrusy contrast to the peppers. Garnishing with toasted sesame seeds adds texture and an additional nutty aroma, while a sprinkle of salt enhances the overall flavor.

This appetizer is suitable as a light snack or side dish. The combination of mellow heat from shishito peppers and the flavorful sesame dipping sauce creates an approachable yet interesting bite. Using vegan mayonnaise in the dip can make this dish entirely plant-based.
