Ground Turkey and Sweet Potato Skillet

Ground Turkey and Sweet Potato Skillet combines browned ground turkey with tender sweet potatoes, garlic, and onion sautéed in avocado oil for a hearty one-pan meal. Seasoned with oregano and salt, and finished with fresh cherry tomatoes and chives, this dish balances savory meat, sweet vegetables, and fresh herbs. A splash of chicken broth steams the mixture, creating a lightly sauced, warm skillet perfect for serving straight from the pan.

Description

This skillet dish starts by softening chopped yellow onion in avocado oil until translucent, then adding diced sweet potato covered briefly to soften. Ground turkey is browned alongside with oregano and salt, mixing into the softened sweet potatoes. Adding chicken broth helps steam the ingredients, keeping them moist and melding flavors.

Cherry tomatoes and chopped chives are added last, warming slightly without losing their freshness to complete the dish with bright flavor and color. The preparation is straightforward and doesn’t require complicated steps, making it a practical, satisfying option for a balanced meal.

Omitting onion and garlic makes this recipe low-FODMAP, with options to add cider vinegar or mustard for flavor if tolerated. The recipe yields a warm, colorful skillet combining protein, vegetable, and spice, suitable for a quick dinner or lunch.
