  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion diced, medium
  • 1 1/2 lb ground turkey
  • 3-4 garlic minced, cloves
  • 1 tbsp chili powder or to taste
  • 1 tbsp cumin ground
  • 1 tsp oregano dried
  • 1 tsp thyme dried
  • salt to taste, Kosher
  • black pepper to taste, Kosher
  • 2 1/2 cups chicken broth or beef broth
  • 1 crushed tomatoes 28 oz can
  • 2 black bean rinsed and drained, 15 oz can
  • sour cream optional toppings, shredded cheese
  • jalapeño
  • cheese
  • lime
  • cilantro

Instructions

  1. Heat the oil in a dutch oven over medium heat. Sauté the onion for 3-4 minutes.
  2. Add the ground turkey and cook, mincing the meat with a wooden spoon, until no longer pink. Stir in the garlic and seasonings.
  3. Add the broth, crushed tomatoes, and beans. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 30 minutes.
  4. Add toppings of choice and enjoy!

Notes

  • Storing: Place any leftovers in an airtight container and store it in the fridge. It will last about 4 to 5, making it great for meal prep. If you plan to keep it longer than that, this chili freezes so well!
  • Freezing: To freeze the chili, place it in freezer-safe containers or resealable gallon-sized freezer bags. Store in the freezer for up to 3 months. Thaw in the fridge overnight, then reheat it on medium heat on the stovetop. You can also reheat for about 2 minutes in the microwave.
