Guacamole

Homemade guacamole with cilantro, jalapeño, onion, and fresh lime juice is a beloved appetizer that's perfect with tortilla chips, nachos, tacos, and margaritas!

Ingredients

  • 3 ripe avocado about 1 1/4 pounds, Hass variety
  • 1/4 cup cilantro minced
  • 1/4 cup onion diced
  • 1 large jalapeño seeded, diced
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice plus more to taste, fresh
  • 1 teaspoon salt plus more to taste

Instructions

  1. Cut ripe avocados in half and twist to separate the two sides. Press the pit out of the avocado or remove a spoon and discard. With a large spoon, scoop the avocado fruit into a large mixing bowl. Discard the skins.
  2. Remove any blemished dark spots and discard. Mash the avocado with a potato masher or fork, leaving some texture, and add the lime juice and salt.
  3. Add the onion, cilantro, and jalapeno and gently mix everything together. Taste test and season with more salt and/or lime juice if needed. Serve immediately with tortilla chips. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Use the freshest and most ripe avocados you can find.
  • Do not hold back on salt.
  • Serving your guacamole right away is optimal, but if you have to store it, you can place it in a container, smooth the top off, then add a little water, and place it in the fridge. When you're ready to eat, drain the water and serve.
