Ham and Cheese Breakfast Bake
Description
Ham and Cheese Breakfast Bake uses a pancake batter base mixed with baking powder, water, diced ham, and shredded cheddar cheese. The batter is poured into a baking dish, topped with ham and cheese, and baked until set. This cooking method produces a warm, comforting breakfast casserole with the savory flavor of ham and the melty sharpness of cheddar. The texture is moist and soft from the pancake batter, yet firm enough to be sliced and served.
The recipe is suitable for making a substantial morning meal that can feed several people at once. The inclusion of buttermilk pancake mix adds a mild tang and tender crumb, complemented by the smoky ham and rich cheese. Baking at 350°F ensures it cooks evenly without drying out.
You can customize this dish by swapping ham for other sausages or omitting meat to suit dietary preferences. Different types of pancake mixes, including gluten-free or plant-based versions, can be used to adapt the recipe. Leftovers can be cooled, wrapped tightly, and refrigerated for up to a week or frozen for longer storage, offering convenient preparation in advance.
