Ham and Cheese Breakfast Casserole

This Ham and Cheese Breakfast Casserole layers crescent roll dough with slices of honey-flavored deli ham and Colby Jack cheese, baked into a warm, flaky, and savory dish. The layered structure creates a hearty breakfast or brunch option with a soft, tender interior and a golden crust.

Description

The casserole begins with half a can of refrigerated crescent roll dough spread into a baking dish as a base. Layers of cheese and ham alternate before repeating, finishing with a final layer of crescent dough. The assembled dish is baked at 350°F until the dough is cooked through and golden on top.

The combination of sweet ham and mild, creamy Colby Jack cheese harmonizes with the tender, buttery layers of crescent dough. The casserole is comforting with a balance of flaky pastry and melty cheese, making it appealing for morning meals or casual brunch gatherings.

The recipe notes that cheese can be sprinkled on top after baking while still hot, to provide an extra cheesy topping that melts from residual heat.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 2 cans crescent rolls refrigerated
  • 16 lices ham or your choice of deli meat, honey flavored
  • 16 lices Colby jack cheese
  • cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Coat a 9x13 baking dish with cooking spray.
  2. Place 1/2 crescent dough (1 can) in a single layer.
  3. Layer the cheese, ham, cheese and ham. Finish with a single layer of crescent dough. Reserve a small amount of cheese for sprinkling on top, if desired.
  4. Bake for 20-25 minutes. If the tops starts to brown, loosely place a sheet of aluminum foil over top so the bottom layer has time to cook as well.
  5. If you are sprinkling cheese on top, sprinkle right after removing from the oven. Cheese should melt with heat from the top layer.
  6. Remove and allow to sit for 5 minutes.
