Ham Casserole Recipe with Bow Ties
Description
This recipe starts with cooking farfalle (bow tie) pasta al dente. A roux is made by sautéing minced garlic in butter, then whisking in flour, salt, and pepper. Milk is added gradually and brought to a boil to thicken. Prepared mustard and shredded Colby cheese melt into the sauce, creating a rich, velvety base. Cubed cooked ham and the drained pasta get stirred in, combining all components. Transferred to a baking dish, the casserole is topped with grated Parmesan cheese and baked until golden and bubbling, forming a slight crust on top.
The casserole offers a creamy texture with hearty ham pieces and cheesy flavor enhanced by the mustard’s tang. Bow tie pasta holds sauce well with its shape. This dish serves well warm as a main or side.
Leftovers keep well refrigerated in airtight containers for 3-4 days and can be frozen for up to 3 months, though the texture might subtly change after freezing and reheating.
