Ham Fried Rice

Ham Fried Rice combines diced ham, mixed vegetables, and leftover cooked rice with eggs and seasonings to create a classic stir-fried dish. The use of refrigerated, cooked rice helps prevent clumping during stir-fry. With garlic powder and salt adjusting the flavor, and green onions adding freshness, the dish offers a balance of savory notes and a satisfying texture from the ham and vegetables.

Description

Ham Fried Rice features diced ham and mixed frozen vegetables stir-fried together, then combined with beaten eggs and leftover cooked rice. The rice is broken apart during cooking to ensure individual grains remain separate, while the eggs coat the rice lightly, integrating flavor and moisture. Garlic powder and salt season the dish, complemented by green onions added at the end for brightness and texture. The final fried rice is savory with hints of garlic, mild saltiness, and a mix of textures from tender ham, vegetables, and fluffy rice.

This dish is well-suited as a practical meal using leftover rice, making it a convenient and economical choice. It can be served as a main dish or a side, pairing well with simple steamed vegetables or a light soup.

Using a non-stick pan helps reduce oil use and prevents sticking. Stir-frying the ham and vegetables separately before adding to the rice improves texture and flavor layering. Ensuring each grain of rice is well coated with beaten eggs is necessary to avoid clumping and enhance the dish's cohesion.
