Hamburger Steak with Mushroom Gravy
Description
This recipe combines ground beef with breadcrumbs, diced onion, egg, garlic, seasonings including Italian seasoning, paprika, oregano, ketchup, BBQ sauce, and Worcestershire sauce, forming flavorful hamburger steaks. The patties are pan-fried in olive oil over high heat until browned on both sides and kept warm.
The mushroom gravy is prepared in the same pan to capture browned bits, starting by sautéing sliced baby bella mushrooms and onions in butter until tender and caramelized. Garlic and fresh rosemary are added briefly before stirring in flour to create a roux. Beef broth is whisked in to form a smooth sauce that is simmered until thickened, then seasoned with Worcestershire sauce, parsley, salt, and black pepper. The hamburger steaks are returned to the pan and coated with the gravy.
This dish pairs well with mashed potatoes or other hearty sides, offering a home-style meal with deep savory flavors from the combination of meats and mushrooms. The gravy adds moisture and earthiness complementing the seasoned beef.
