Harissa Shrimp Skillet
Description
This skillet recipe begins by melting butter with olive oil in a pan, where diced onions soften before minced garlic and harissa paste are added. The aromatic base infuses the oil with rich, spicy flavors. Jumbo shrimp are added next and cooked on each side until they turn pink and opaque, ensuring a tender texture without overcooking. Seasoning with salt and pepper enhances the balance of heat from the harissa.
The combination delivers a sauce that is spicy, buttery, and savory with depth from caramelized onions and garlic. Using both butter and olive oil adds complexity to the mouthfeel and flavor. The final sprinkle of chopped fresh cilantro or parsley cuts through the richness, adding freshness.
Harissa Shrimp can be served in warmed tortillas as tacos, alongside steamed rice to soak up the sauce, or with crusty bread for dipping. The simplicity of preparation makes it suitable for a quick spicy seafood dish.
