Hash Brown Breakfast Casserole

Hash Brown Breakfast Casserole uses layers of baked hashbrowns topped with a seasoned egg and cooked sausage mixture, finished with melted cheddar cheese. The casserole has a golden, slightly crisp bottom, with a tender egg and sausage filling that holds well when portioned. This hearty dish suits morning meals where a warm, shareable savory option is welcome, especially when feeding a group.

Description

The Hash Brown Breakfast Casserole starts by spreading melted butter in a 9x13 inch dish, then adding frozen shredded hashbrowns baked until edges begin to brown. A whisked mixture of beaten eggs, cooked crumbled breakfast sausage, salt, and pepper is poured over the warm potatoes, then topped with grated cheddar cheese. Baking continues until the eggs set solid and cheese melts.

The dish features a combination of textures: a slightly crisp hash brown layer beneath a firm, cheesy, and savory egg and sausage topping. The melted butter brushing helps prevent sticking and adds flavor to the hash browns. Optional chopped parsley or green onions add a fresh touch when serving.

This casserole is well-suited as a filling breakfast or brunch main. It can be sliced into squares and served warm as a substantial start to the day. It is convenient for feeding multiple people at once.
