Hawaiian Chili Pepper Water - Recipe

Hawaiian Chili Pepper Water is a spicy condiment made by simmering sliced chili peppers with water, white vinegar, sea salt, garlic, and fresh ginger. The infused liquid is cooled, bottled, and aged to deepen flavor and heat, and may be enhanced with soy or Worcestershire sauce. It offers a medium heat level with a zesty, aromatic profile for adding spice to dishes.

Description

This recipe involves combining water, white vinegar, sea salt, sliced Hawaiian chili peppers, garlic slices, and fresh ginger in a pan, then bringing the mixture to a quick boil before reducing the heat and simmering for five minutes. After heating, the mixture is cooled and transferred to a sterilized bottle to infuse further. The longer it rests, the more the flavors and heat from the peppers and aromatics develop into the liquid.

Optional additions such as a splash of soy sauce or Worcestershire sauce can add umami complexity. The result is a versatile spicy condiment with a medium heat level that can be used to enhance many dishes with a zesty kick.

The chili pepper water can be stored refrigerated for up to a year, making it a long-lasting addition for flavoring foods.
