Hawaiian Roll Hamburger Sliders

Report
These Hawaiian Roll Hamburger Sliders layer seasoned cooked ground beef and melted American cheese between sweet Hawaiian rolls. The rolls are sliced horizontally but kept connected for easy assembly, topped with a mayo-ketchup sauce on the buns, then brushed with butter and sprinkled with sesame seeds before baking briefly. The result is warm, soft sliders with a savory beef filling and a touch of sweetness from the rolls and sauce.

Description

Hawaiian Roll Hamburger Sliders start by seasoning ground beef with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper, then browning it and draining excess fat. Sweet Hawaiian rolls are sliced in half horizontally and kept whole for easy layering. The cooked beef is evenly spread on the bottom half, followed by slices of American cheese. A simple spread made from mayonnaise and ketchup is applied to the underside of the top buns. The assembled slider sandwich is then brushed with melted butter and topped with sesame seeds. Baking the covered sliders softens the rolls and melts the cheese, finishing with a short uncovered bake to lightly brown the tops.

The sliders are perfect as a casual appetizer or light meal, combining the savory beef with the characteristic sweetness of the Hawaiian rolls and the creamy tang of the spread. The assembly method keeps the sliders intact and easy to serve.

To avoid soggy bottoms, toasting rolls lightly before assembly is recommended. Store any leftovers in airtight containers refrigerated and consume within several days.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 package Hawaiian sweet rolls (12 count)
  • 1.5 pound ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 lices American cheese
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 Tablespoons butter melted, unsalted
  • 1/2 Tablespoon sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. In a large bowl, mix ground beef, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the beef mixture, breaking it up as it cooks, until browned and no longer pink, about 8-10 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  4. While the beef is cooking, slice the entire package of Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally, keeping them connected.
  5. Place the bottom half of the rolls in a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  6. Spread the cooked beef evenly over the bottom half of the rolls.
  7. Layer the cheese slices over the hot beef.
  8. In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise and ketchup. Spread this mixture on the underside of the top half of the rolls.
  9. Place the top half of the rolls over the cheese layer.
  10. Brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  11. Cover with foil and bake for 10 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 2-3 minutes until tops are lightly golden.
  12. Remove from the oven, let cool for a few minutes, then slice into individual sliders and serve and enjoy!

Notes

  • Lightly toast the bottom halves of the rolls before assembling to prevent sogginess.
  • Serve sliders fresh; leftovers can be refrigerated in airtight containers for up to 3-4 days.
