Healthier Beef Chili
Description
The chili begins with sautéing onions and garlic in olive oil, then browning lean ground beef. The seasoning blend includes chipotle peppers in adobo, chili powder, Worcestershire sauce, cumin, oregano, steak sauce, salt, and black pepper, which infuse the meat with smoky, spicy, and savory notes. Kidney beans and crushed tomatoes add bulk and earthiness, while water adjusts thickness. After boiling, the chili is simmered on low heat for up to an hour to meld flavors and develop a hearty texture.
The resulting chili is thick and chunky with a depth of layered spice and moderate heat from the chipotle. The lean beef makes it lighter than traditional versions but still satisfying. Garnishes like shredded cheddar and sour cream add creaminess and richness, and parsley brings a fresh contrast. This chili suits casual meals and can be paired with bread, rice, or tortilla chips.
