Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 340°F, or preheat the oven to 350°F. Spray both sides of the tortillas with oil, or mist with water/lime. Sprinkle with salt. Stack the tortillas and cut into 8 wedges.
- AIR FRYER Instructions: Place in a single layer in the air fryer basket, and air fry for about 6 minutes, checking on them at the halfway point AND once or twice during the last couple of minutes. The air may cause the chips to fly around inside the basket, making it impossible to keep them in a single layer. It's okay! Shake the basket as needed.Tip: Air fryers vary, so after an initial test batch you may need to adjust the temperature and/or time for your machine.
- OVEN option: Place in a single layer on a large baking sheet. Bake for 8 minutes, flip the tortilla chips, and bake for another 7 to 10 minutes or until crisp and golden.
Notes
- Oil-free option: For fat-free tortilla chips, mist or brush the tortillas with lime juice or a combination of water and lime. They still crisp up nicely!
- Seasoning Ideas:
- I recommend making a plain batch first, and then have fun with seasonings once you get the hang of it.
- Store leftover tortilla chips in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
- Store leftover tortilla chips in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
- Note that nutrition facts depend on the amount of oil and salt used. The data shown includes one quick spray of oil per side.
- I like to sprinkle the tortillas with smoked paprika, chili powder, and garlic powder. Sometimes I include nutritional yeast for a cheesy, Doritos-ish flavor.
- If you're a fan of ranch chips, use your favorite dry ranch seasoning. Spicewalla has one, and there are many recipes online.
- Harissa and za'atar are also great!
