Healthy Apple Cake (Low-Fat, Low-Sugar Recipe)

This Healthy Apple Cake is a lightly sweetened, low-fat dessert featuring diced apples folded into a spiced batter. Eggs provide structure and moisture, while cinnamon adds warmth. The cake contains a cinnamon-sugar topping that forms a subtle crust during baking. Baked until golden and tender, it is suitable for enjoying warm or at room temperature.

Description

The cake combines peeled, cored apples cut into small cubes with a batter made from eggs beaten with xylitol sweetener and vanilla, mixed with flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. The apples distributed throughout the batter lend moistness and light fruitiness. A cinnamon and sugar mixture is sprinkled on top before baking, adding a gentle sweet and spiced crust.

Baked in a greased springform pan at 350°F (180°C) for 30 to 35 minutes, the cake is done when a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. After resting briefly, it can be removed from the pan and served. The result is a tender crumb with a balance of mild sweetness and apple flavor.

This cake works well as a healthier dessert or snack when lower sugar and fat content is desired. It can be served warm with ice cream or whipped topping or at room temperature with crème fraîche or yogurt.

Any apple variety is suitable, but crisp, fresh ones are preferred for texture and flavor. This cake offers a straightforward, home-style option without heavy fat or sweeteners.
