Chicken Cordon Bleu
Description
This recipe prepares Chicken Cordon Bleu by starting with thin pieces of skinless, boneless chicken breast seasoned with salt and pepper. Each piece is layered with slices of Swiss cheese and cooked ham before being carefully rolled and secured. The rolls are then dipped in beaten egg and coated with bread crumbs for a crisp, golden crust.
The coated chicken rolls are topped with melted butter to enhance browning and moisture before baking in a moderate oven until the chicken reaches a safe internal temperature and the crust becomes crispy. The combination of the melted Swiss cheese and ham inside complements the mild chicken flavor, while the outside crust adds texture.
Serve this dish warm as a satisfying main course, pairing well with steamed vegetables, rice, or potatoes for a balanced meal.
