Delicious chocolate waffles made with whole wheat flour, cocoa powder, eggs, maple syrup, and yogurt. Fluffy, tasty, easy to make, and ready in just 30 minutes.

Ingredients
- 2 cups whole wheat flour or gluten-free flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder unsweetened
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt fine kosher
- 3 large egg
- 2 1/2 cup PLAIN yogurt
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup or honey
- 2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips
TOPPINGS:
- raspberry or strawberries, fresh
- maple syrup or honey
- chocolate optional, shaved
Instructions
- In a medium bowl stir the dry ingredients: the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a second large bowl whisk the eggs, yogurt, and vanilla. Add in the dry ingredients and stir well to combine, then fold in the chocolate chips.
- Preheat a waffle maker until a green light appears. Cook the waffles for 3-5 minutes, or until slightly crisp
- Serve with fresh fruits, and maple syrup and top with shaved chocolate, if desired.
Notes
- use any flour of your choice.
- instead of maple syrup, you may use agave or honey.
- Top with your favorite fruits and spread.
- Double the batter and store to make more the next day.
