Hershey Kiss Chocolate Blossom Christmas Cookies
Description
The Hershey Kiss Chocolate Blossom Christmas Cookies start with a dough made from flour, cocoa powder, sugar, butter, egg, and vanilla. After creaming the butter and sugar, the dry ingredients are incorporated to form a chocolate dough. Dollops are rolled into balls, coated in sprinkles, and baked for 10 minutes. While still warm and soft from the oven, each cookie is topped by pressing a Hershey's Kiss into the center, allowing it to soften slightly.
The cookies have a rich chocolate flavor with a soft, tender texture, complemented by the crunch of festive nonpareil sprinkles. The glossy Kiss adds a creamy chocolate centerpiece that contrasts nicely with the slightly crisp edges of the baked dough.
These cookies are appropriate for holiday baking and sharing. Rolling dough balls in all sides of sprinkles or just the top and edges can vary the decorative effect. Letting them cool before serving helps set the shape while keeping the Kiss center melty.
Ingredients
- 1 cup flour
- ⅓ cup cocoa powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup butter
- ⅔ cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup nonpareils (festive sprinkles)
- 16 Hershey’s Kisses
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350º. Stir flour, cocoa, and salt together in a bowl and set aside
- In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar together for about 2 minutes until light and fluffy. Add and beat in egg and vanilla extract for 1 more minute.
- Stir in the flour mixture and mix just until fully incorporated.
- Scoop out by the tablespoon and roll into 1 inch balls. Roll the cookie dough balls into nonpareils and place them on a parchment lined baking sheet with about 2 inches of space between each.
- Bake for 10 minutes. While the cookies are baking, unwrap Hershey’s Kisses.
- As soon as cookies come out of the oven, press a Hershey’s Kiss into the center of each, and set aside to cool.
Notes
- Roll cookie dough balls fully or partially in festive sprinkles depending on desired appearance.
- Press the Hershey's Kiss into the warm cookie immediately after removing from the oven to ensure it sticks and softens.
